Patek Philippe’s Calatrava ref. 2451 is worth taking a closer look at. On first glance what looks like a ref. 96 is actually far more interesting. This reference features a “waterproof” screwback case produced by lauded case maker Francois Borgel. Yes the same FB of ref 565, 2508/9 and 1463 fame. The 2451 case is actually just a 31mm version of the 2508, 2509 and 1463 style case. This, to my eye, makes it particularly appealing.
What we have here is no ordinary 2451, this example is cased in rose gold making far more rare than its yellow counterpart. Patek’s 1950s blend of rose gold is particularly attractive with a warm glow to it that is doubtlessly gorgeous. The watch is preserved in very good vintage condition and comes on a replacement strap. An Extract from the Archives has been ordered and will be included upon delivery from Patek.
