Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 3440 - Automatic

$16,500.00

An excellent example of an automatic Calatrava reference from Patek Philippe. This ref 3440 features Patek’s in-house caliber 27-460 movement, an upgraded version of the 12-600 found in the lauded ref. 2526 (Patek’s very first automatic wristwatch). In fact we see the same PP crown on this reference found on 2526.

The 3440’s screw-back case, produced for Patek by Antoine Gerlach, is the star of the show here. Featuring angular, pointed lugs and a beveled bezel that cuts deep into the watch’s mid-case it’s a true showcase of Patek’s mid-century design prowess. Additionally this ref. features oversized, modern proportions clocking in at 34mm in diameter with a 39mm lug-to-lug. This particular example’s case remains especially well preserved with strong hallmarks and sharp angles throughout. The dial is preserved in equally fantastic condition and the watch is fresh to market.

I purchased the watch from a gentleman who buys storage units. He was lucky enough to find this gem within the contents of a unit out in rural Maryland. The original owner’s name is engraved on the reverse. The watch is accompanied by its original 18k PPco signed AW pin buckle and has been paired with a brand new calfskin strap.
