An incredibly rare Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3900J featuring a coveted ‘Telephone Dial’ circa 1990. Telephone dials are a thing of lore amongst Nautilus collectors. They are essentially grey sunburst dials with white painted arabic numerals that are reminiscent of the fonts seen on vintage rotary dial telephones. They didn’t sell well at the time and thus not many were produced.
This is the only known example of a telephone dial in solid yellow gold; all other examples that have surfaced across both ref 3900 and 3800 have been steel or two tone. Best of all, this example is accompanied by its original box and warranty papers which designate Dial as ardoise, heures arabes (slate, Arabic hours) confirming originality. The watch itself is preserved in fantastic condition with tight bracelet and sharp case.
