Widely considered the definitive post-war Patek Philippe wristwatch, the 2526 was the brand’s first self-winding model—and arguably still its best. This example, dating to 1954, features the legendary 12-600 caliber, a richly preserved enamel dial with raised gold hour markers, and its original PP-signed yellow gold bracelet by Gay Frères. The bracelet is quite long and will fit up to an 8 inch wrist. The dial is gorgeous and completely crack free.
The case remains thick, and the proportions—36mm with subtle, sculptural lugs—feel as refined today as they did in the mid-century. According to the included Extract from the Archives, this piece was sold on February 7th, 1955, making it an early production example of one of Patek’s most important references. The real point to note is that this guy was born on this gorgeous signed 18k bracelet, an important designation as most out there were paired later on.
